| | Like it or not, we are, individually or as a church. Although, the Church cannot participate, our priests, administrators and parishioners are American and have the right to participate. And we have a few Catholic Senators, Congrssmen and women and other elected or appointed political positions.
And the church also voice out when an immoral legislation are being presented; like abortion, stem-cell and the like. And rightly so, otherwise this great nation will not have any consciense in it's legislations at all. Our Courts already lost it's heart and consciense, judges now make decisions and install it as law of the land as if they are senate and congress put together in one single man (woman). No objection or deliberation, just pure IMPERIAL RULE. And we thought UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is a democracy.
The Church stood up against the abortion legislation; Fr. Pavone and others fought and stood up against the like of Sens. Kennedy, Kerry, Feinstein, Durbin, Specter, Clinton, Biden, Boxer, etc. And Fr. Pavone and the others are making great progress, until the church got involved in a bigger politically charged effort.
Currently we are involved heavily in the immigration reform legislation. Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles spearheads this effort. USCCB supports this effort completely. And what happens to Fr. Pavone's effort? Covered, lost and no longer heard. And the policiticians the church is louding for this effort? The same politicians who are supporting ABORTION legislation. WHERE DO WE REALLY STAND AS A CHURCH?
Two weeks ago I attended the Station of the Cross, the immigration was the topic of the Cross. The book the leader read compares the "Illegal Immigrant" to Jesus' journey to Egypt. Historically, this is very wrong, because Israel and Egypt were both part of the Roman Empire. Hence, Jesus' trip to Egypt was with in the boudary of one country. While the "Illegal Immigrant" came to America ILLEGALLY to another sovereignty.
What this effort is doing is encouraging people from another country to come in to America illegally and the church will support them. Cardinal Mahony's office statement about this effort is not about "rendering to Caesar,,,,", then what is it? The church will not marry a man and a woman, unless they have been through pre-Cana, why not respect the rule of the land too?
If our church will encourage people to break the law of the land with people policing the rule, how much easier will it be for people to break God's law, knowing our leader do encourage us to break the law? We are only policed by our consciense. And do we really want those ABORTION senators in the Senate again?
Fr. Pavone, where are you? I have not heard from you for sometime now, are you still allowed to fight for the UNBORN?
